How does acupuncture work?
Acupuncture points are small energy centers along the meridians where the Qi (energy) of the human body accumulates. The stainless steel needles work as stimulators, conductors of energy that activates this complex energy system (in the acupuncture meridians) thus initiating a blood and oxygen flow that influences muscular, organ, nervous system function. When the flow of blood is corrected the human body is able to restore health naturally.
From the Western scientific perspective, the insertion of an acupuncture needle stimulates the neurovascular nodes that communicate with the nervous system in the brain. The body may produce the following biochemical results: release of WBC, histamine, local stem cells, glutamate, neuropeptides, prostaglandin to fight infection, serotonin from mast cells. Acupuncture is also found to inhibit TNF tumor nucleo factor.
